State Championships
Said Martinez, Freshman, led the North wrestlers in Team Points with 8. He garnered the Team Points by pinning both of his opponents during the first day of State Championships, including a Senior Gilbert High wrestler, who had been 38 and 5. Said continues to advance in the Championship rounds and will most likely meet Maryvale on Friday at the Glendale Arena.
Seniors Eric Sanchez and Adam Banda also continue to advance in the Championship Bracket. Even though he was sick with a fever, Eric remains undefeated in his weight class.
Wrestlers with one loss move into the Consolation Bracket, wrestling for Third place. North has four wrestlers moving their way through the Consolation Bracket. Seniors Joe Kuczora, Jon Barnes, and Jeremy Taliman, and Junior Danny Barerra will be returning with the team on Friday at the Glendale Arena.

Weight Certification
Weight certification for this year will be held at North High School on Monday, November 1st at 4 PM.
For those wrestlers who have not had physicals yet, make up physicals will be held before weigh ins. See Eric the trainer for information.

Physicals and Body Fat
The season is starting soon. I will be coming by the school this Saturday, October 16th, to do body fat testing. This will be the last chance to see where you are before certification. I will also discuss what you will need to be doing for certification. Like last year, they will be checking urine to make sure you are hydrated before you can be tested. Drink water. Starting the night before the certification day, start drinking water. Take water with you to class that day, and sip on it all day. Do not drink Gatorade/Powerade/sports drinks/enhanced water/etc.
While I am there on Saturday, I will provide physicals to anyone that has not gotten one yet. If you need a physical, see Coach Warmath or Shegog, or the Trainer Eric for the forms. When you have the history completed and signed by your parents, see the Trainer Eric for the first part of the physical and then I will finish them up on Saturday. I expect to be there around 9 AM, but check with your coach for the exact time.

Free Physicals
The annual Team Osteopathic Physicals for Students will be providing FREE PHYSICALS for all North High athletes (including incoming Freshman) on May 1st at Sunnyslope High School. See your Coach or Trainer Eric Becchetti for forms and transportation information. A parental consent form is required for your student to receive the free physicals screening and EKG. You must fill the form out completely and return it to your high school coach.
In addition to educational information on health topics including asthma, smoking and nutrition, the program will also provide free electrocardiograms (EKGs) and ECHOS to as many students as possible throughout the day. The EKG is a pain-free exam of the heart that takes only a few minutes to complete. Certified cardiologists will read the EKGs and ECHOS, any unusual findings will be reported to you for follow-up with your family physician. Although sudden death due to heart problems is rare in young athletes (estimated at 1 in 200,000), our goal is to reduce this risk even further by screening for potential cardiac problems before the sports season starts. (EKGs and ECHOs are not necessary for every athlete and need may be determined by history and exam.) Additional information on the TOPS program can be found at Arizona Osteopathic Medical Association.
